Last Week Overview – New Songs and More

I am not posting as regularly as a was. I am working on a new project that is extremely time-consuming. I don’t want to talk about it for now because I am a couple of weeks away from release, but it’s going to be great.

I released a new album available at Reverbnation. It’s called Secret Room Sessions. You can download it here.

It regroups most of the song I produced this past year in my home studio named The Secret Room Studio, hence the title.

I also worked on a new song, Mr Brun, and it that was a great challenge. The song is based on an old arrangement I wrote in the early 1990. Mr Brun is based on African rhythms and has a nice groove going on. I’m explaining everything about it in detail in the post below the video.

It was a challenge because, it implies many different tracks and also because it’s a long song. Performing a good mix on such a long piece is extremely difficult. I think I did all right.

Also, producing the video was quite difficult to. I didn’t want to do the same old video I’m doing all the time, which is me playing in front of my WebCam. I wanted to have a video without my face in it for a change.

I use lots of video footage from Beachfront B-Roll. I know this website since years, and the guy is amazing. He’s delivering incredible original content to use free of charge. I’m always using some images from him in all my clips, but it’s the first time I’m using mainly his footage to produce my video.

I used, and abused the Green chroma key effect. It allows you to superimpose different images and use the famous green screen effect. You can also replace any color you pick to make it transparent. At some point in the video, there are four superimposed images.

Also, I almost finished the first part of this blog. In the beginning, I wanted to demo only the guitar I am using, and I’m almost done. I have a few more coming, but they are part of my secret project that I am going to launch soon.

As I said at the beginning, I didn’t want to use this site to demo everything available to make affiliate incomes. I’m reviewing the gear I am using and even if I have tons of guitars; there is always an end to the collection.

Besides my secret project, I’m now going to review the stompboxes I am using, and I have quite a bunch. I am also going to give free tips on how to use Cubase and all the different plug-ins I use to produce my music.

Finally, I am also working on guitar lessons that are going to be released for free on this site.

All of this take time. I’m working on each project at the same time and, sooner or later, everything is going to be alive and kicking.

Stay tuned for more.

Music is the best
