Birth of Bangla music

The history of Bangla literature is a centuries-old legacy of which some pages still unfold. There are many hidden concepts and beliefs coming from the design of this form of music. Until research and belief say that the first form of Bangla music arose out of the musical composition known as Charya. Charya is primarily from northern India with an organized rhythm and singing style. This gave birth to the classical form of Banla music.

Later, Jayeb, a famous Bengali poet, captured the hearts of millions of people with his beautiful compositions created on the intense love of Radha-Krishna. The collection of this religious song has been compiled to form a heartwarming composition known as Geet Gobinda. Following Jayeb, many other poets and singers introduced different forms of musical compositions. Baru Chandidas gave birth to the collection of soothing songs with unique lyrics and typical Bangla melodies. This collection was known as ShriKrishna Keertan. Then the Padabali Keertan was mixed with the rich Hindustani music of the North which ultimately gave birth to various trends in Bangla music.

There are many popular trends in this form of music like Tappa, Bhaitali, Baul, Kirtan and many more. Tappa is a form of classical music from North India which was introduced by a famous musician from Luckhnow known as Golam Nabi. The theme on which this composition is based is the love shared between men and women and the tone is a classic form. Baul songs are sung by a specific group from Bangla known as Bauls and the song form Bhaitali is primarily sung by boatmen from South Bangla. In addition, kirtans and Rabindra Sangeet are also popular trends which are loved by many people across the country. Kirtans are ritual songs based on religious beliefs and sung on various religious and festive occasions. Rabindra Sangeet is the beautiful composition of songs composed by Rabindranath Tagore. Some of the other popular songs are Najrul Geeti songs written by Kazi Nazrul Islam and Ganasangeet on the topic of social beliefs.

Apart from that, there are some latest trends that include movie and non-movie songs with unique lyrics and a lovely heartwarming tone. Some of the famous artists in the field of Bangla music are Hemanta Mukherjee, Jaganmoy Mitra, Shyamol Mitra, Arati Mukherjee, Asha Bhosle, Lata Mungeshkar and Satinath Mukherjee.
