Review of the Legend Formant Synthesizer Pedal by Aural Dream

[cm_ad_changer campaign_id="16"]

I’m always curious about weird pedals. That’s why I bought this one despite the bad reviews. Affordable strange pedals are not common. So I decided to ignore negative and poor review videos.

It is sold as a guitar synthesizer. But that’s far from true. I wanted to return it immediately after testing it. I think Aural Dream made a mistake to label it as a synth pedal.

Nevertheless, after fooling around a bit, I decided to keep it. It’s not a synth, but something in between a wah and a phaser or a flanger. But it has a tone of its own. It’s far from being a must-have effect, but now that I have it, I kind of like it.

The pedal offers 4 resonance modes.

It is supposed to turn the guitar signal into a human voice. I pity the guy who talks like that.

The four knobs are supposed to control human vowels. But since it sounds more like a strange flanger.

Those knobs control the shape of the modulation much more than human vowels of any kind. Start, mid and end knobs are active on the modulation, while the Control knob controls the intensity.

It’s kind of cool, even if some modes react better than others. Finally, the middle knob offers 4 different modes to choose from. It is reported to sound better with distortion.

Aural Dream is a new Chinese brand established around 2015.

They are trying to produce weird first-price pedals, but they are far from EarthQuaker Devices.

The Crystals Harmony and Fixed Harmony are the only two interesting but limited pedals from what I heard on review videos.

According to their own site, they seem to appear in 2015 and stopped activities in 2017.

Pedals available online are probably the remaining stuff.

I hope this video helped you to make up your mind. I won’t return it because I like few sounds, but I am not recommending it in any way, shape, or form.

Many pedals can achieve that type of effect, with greater control and quality outcome. It’s better to save money and buy better pedals from EarthQuaker Devices, Red Panda, ZVex or WMD.
